One of the first things I do to get myself motivated for the gym in the morning is turn on music.
Admittedly, it’s usually 90’s pop music, because my Britney Spears’ dance moves are best when I’m still wearing my pajamas, but when I actually get to the gym, shiz gets serious.
My criteria for a good gym song usually just means that I don’t skip past it after the first few seconds.
I like some new songs and I like lots of old songs. I like songs that motivate me with a fast beat and especially those with a good build-up, mostly electronic and dance music, espesh remixes, with a bit of hip hop pop in there, too. Ya dig?
Here’s my top 10 fave songs for the gym (at the moment anyway), in no particular order.
❤ Ohhh Nooo by Excision
I know I literally just said no particular order, but this is my jam. Definite fave. I always, always play this when doing abs because it makes me do sit-ups like a crazy person. I am also semi-obsessed with Excision’s The Underground, Execute and Deviance (Dirtyphonics remix).
❤ Swing by Savage (Joel Fletcher remix)
Now, let me just tell all you cool kids out there… I know this song is all fresh and popular now, but I liked it before it was cool. The original Swing came out in New Zealand in like 2005. Yeah, old school cool.
❤ Can’t Believe It by Flo Rida featuring Pitbull
We’ll just ignore the fact most of Flo Rida’s songs sound exactly the same because I have a special love for Pitbull. He’s everyone’s favourite creepy, latino uncle. I like this song cos it talks about white girls with big butts AKA me.
❤ Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Dalton
I like the speedy beat and speedy rapping and I like it when it slows down for the chorus. That’s what I like about this song. Aha *nods*.
❤ Feel So Close by Calvin Harris
Also possibly one of my fave songs outside of the gym, I just love this song so much. I don’t even know why. Like it with me?
❤ Gash King by Uberjak’d (Joel Fletcher remix)
This Fletcher bloke is a bit of alright, isn’t he? I never skip this song either. Fast, varied beats and a peppy sound. Look at me makin’ up ‘sounds’ now *rolls eyes*.
❤ Joyenergizer by Sander van Doorn
I just wanna push the weights to the beat, and love the unexpected changes of pace and stuff.
❤ Kill EVERYBODY by Skrillex
I love mostly everything by Skrillex but this is probs my fave for the gym. Makes me feel like skipping a little bit, too….totally normal…
❤ Super Soaker by Bombs Away
Perfect mix of dancey and gangster rappin’. Not really gangster, but whatevs. Also, Big Booty Bitches.
❤ Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke featuring TI and Pharrell (Will Sparks remix)
One of my most favourite remixes ever. Makes this song so much better.
❤ Vindicate by Excision and Datsik – I’ve only just discovered this. It may become No.1 soon.
❤ Work, Bitch by Britney Spears – Well, that’s why we’re there, isn’t it?
❤ Give It 2 U by Robin Thicke (US Mix/Explicit) – Suitably rude and flattering lyrics with a good pump.
❤ Pause by Pitbull – He even tells me when I’m allowed to….Pause….
❤ Let’s Get Ridiculous by Redfoo – Come on, come on, come on, come on baby, let’s get ridiculous.
❤ I’m A Trumpsta by Contiez (Djuro remix) – Another dancey, fast, doof doof one.

❤ Levels by Avicii (Skrillex remix) – Top notch for song for warming down.
